Our Fashion sense has evolved. Today's Fashion is greatly influence by modernity, mostly affected by mere egg-headedness and Technology. People everwhere strives to look good and present themselves stylishly; whichever class they belong to. We often here "Oh my! Angelina (Jolie) looks gorgeous. I wanna be like her!" "Hey, Sara Jessica's (Parker) undoubtedly hot! Wish I have her clothes. How old is she? Do you know?" "Darn! I love lana del Ray's hair." "Johnny's (Depp) nailing his suit!". We easily get inspired by these people we see on television, internet, magazines, and advertisements.
The next thing we know, is that we are dressing ourselves like celebrities. And when people see us glammed up a bit, we crave for some praises. Oh yeah, how we love them! It is a feather in our own cap. And how ironic how we get mad when people look at us gussying up. Well in fact, we love to judge. Don't we? I must say though , that Fashion is not just wearing what we want. Having been in the academe for the past few weeks, it is clearer to me now that it takes a deeper understanding for Fashion to be called Clothing Technologists. It has opened my eyes to a more profound understanding for Fashion. It is not jsust how artistically, fashionably, and modishly we see ourselves and others. But a more intellectual sense of presenting ourselves through Clothing and everything that comprises the study- a holistic approach indeed. There is an innate and a developed ability in each one of us to style ourselves, but as Clothing Technologists, it is broader. And at the end of the day, whether a Clothing Technologists or not, we must respect one another’s sense of Fashion because there is a reason behind it; be it cultural, spiritual, emotional, scientific, etc. Thus, these reasons brand us to a unique Fashion Identity, we can call ours.*J.A.*
