FASHIONMONGERS(\fa-shǝn-man-gǝr-\:) We Study

Our Fashion sense has evolved. Today's Fashion is greatly influence by modernity, mostly affected by mere egg-headedness and Technology. People everwhere strives to look good and present themselves stylishly; whichever class they belong to. We often here "Oh my! Angelina (Jolie) looks gorgeous. I wanna be like her!" "Hey, Sara Jessica's (Parker) undoubtedly hot! Wish I have her clothes. How old is she? Do you know?" "Darn! I love lana del Ray's hair." "Johnny's (Depp) nailing his suit!". We easily get inspired by these people we see on television, internet, magazines, and advertisements.

Clothing Technology; Shaping The Society

Before CT 11 started we've all been wondering about the significance of our degree program. It is always a struggle to explain to people on how we can contribute to the society as a member of the academe. It's hard to justify something that you do not clearly understand.

I believe that after a few lessons that we've tackled from our CT 11 class we've finally understand the importance of our field of studies. That the course is important in shaping a society.

Behind A Clothing

Behind every clothes we wear is a very broad story of people, concepts and analyzations. A clothing can speak of a person's personality, social status, age, gender, and so many more. A person is first judge in his or her appearance, so it is important to consider what to wear.
Clothing is also seen as indicator of a particular group, which can communicated to everyone through many ways. As a kpop fan, I can be identified being one by the way I dress because I often style my clothes the way koreans do. For some, I can indentify a person who loves dancing by the loose and flowy clothes he or she wears.
Clothing may be identified as a basic need, but for many it is more than that.

To wear is human: a brief debriefing of why people wear clothes.

According to the Book of Genesis,  during the prelapsarian time, the first male and female, namely Adam and Eve, were “naked and not ashamed”. This suggests that both Adam and Eve were in an established state of primeval innocence prior to their departure to a state of guilt and knowledge or the so-called “Fall of Man”. When they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they immediately felt ashamed and realized that they were naked. Upon knowing that they were not clothed, they soon sewed fig leaves together so as to cover themselves.

Fashion -A Story Of The Past, Present, and Future.

After three weeks of discussion, I realised that Fashion is not just about "what's in" and "what's out" this season; rather it is a storyteller. Fashion tells the story of the past, the present, and a glimpse of future. We have a mental picture of what was the lifestyle, the kind of environment, political association, power of gender, and status of the people in the past through paintings, portraits, and fashion illustrations. Fashion gives us the power of imagination. Today, fashion carries the different stories of different people. It gives us the power to communicate without saying a word. And in the future, Fashion would help the people to reminisce what they were like, where they've been, and their experiences.

A story of the past, present, and future.
